Dragonballs
The main goal of dbz is to collect the dragonballs and fight. The Earth dragonballs where created by Kame. He thought of them in a dream. The dragon is shenlong. He is awakened when all seven dragonballs are collected, and when someone shouts "Awaken dragon and grant my wish." He has the power to grant any wish with three exceptions, 1. A person cannot be brought back from the afterlife twice, this was later taken away by dende who powered up the dragonballs to revive people more than once. 2. You can only be granted one wish at a time, this was later taken away by dende's powerup giving three wishes. 3. You cannot make wishes that exceed kame's power. The dragonballs dissaper when either piccolo or kame die because piccolo and kame are one and the same. Confusing huh? Once all the wishes are made the dragonballs are scattered through out the world.

Dragonball and Dragonball Z where both made by the world's best manga artists, drumroll please... Akira Toriyama. Dragonball GT where made by bird studios with permission of good ol' Akira Toriyama. It was origonally a comic.

About Akira Toriyama
Akira Toriyama produced db and dbz. But before there was any dragonball there was Dr. Slump. A comic about a Dr. who was a little crazy who created a female robot to sustain his peverted needs..just kidding. The robot was near sisded and that's about all I know about Dr. Slump. I think it was about 1984 or 1986 when dragonball was released in japan. It was an immediate hit. It came to america in about 1992.
